Keep Going, Keep Going, Keep Going

I know that High School can seem like a hard task to complete.  A number of students may be so tired by their junior year that they decide not to attend college.  The rationale usually is that students have spent so many years in school, pre-kindergarten to high school, that they think it should be enough.  Well, let me encourage you about moving forward.

Now-a-days, to be successful in a vocation students need to not only consider a 4 year degree, but it is also recommended to consider graduate school.  While complete an undergraduate and graduate degree may sound horrifying to some young students, remember that time will go by regardless of how you are spending.  So, why not spend your time studying something you love?  Why not spend your college and graduate school years studying a specialty in psychology that interests you (example: sports psychology, forensic psychology, clinical psychology, geropsychology, etc.)?

Did you know that minorities are largely absent from advanced degrees in the sciences, including in psychology; however, this trend can change.  The trend of "some" minorities in lower paying careers can change by pursuing higher education, finding an academic mentor, and perseverance through each level of school.  Remember that the slow turtle finished the race more effectively than the rabbit because the turtle paced himself and did not focus on distractions.  It is not about how fast you finish; rather, it is about how well you finish Every student can finish college and grad school with the right tools.  This site is here to help you will undergraduate degree admissions and success, while I have another site for helping college students attend graduate school.

Below is a video that will help encourage you on the academic journey.  If you cannot remember anything I have said, maybe you will remember this song during the hard and stressful times in the world of academia.

Best of Luck,

Psy Doc
